Supported Living

About Our Supported Living Services

At M&D Care, we aim to provide the people we support with the skills to live independently. Our supported living environments offer a step-down from residential support, which allows people to live in their own community based accommodation within a complex that is staffed 24 hours of the day. The aim is to offer advice and practical support around daily living. We currently have seven supported living services operating across Carmarthenshire, Swansea and Neath Port Talbot.

Our supported living accommodation aims to offer the people we support greater independence, whilst also providing an environment that feels safe and secure.

We have also successfully supported a number of individuals who have transitioned from secure hospitals and other more restrictive services, and we are accustomed to managing complex behaviour.

Our model of care is to have offices within close proximity to the self-contained flats, where the core team manage peripatetically into the services.

Our supported living placements have experienced core staff teams, including an on-site manager and senior team, as well as input from our Specialist Support Services department.

Whilst our supported living accommodation aims to increase independence, we also encourage social interaction both in and outside of the residences. Most of the services have outside communal spaces, where we promote friendly interactions between the people we support. Furthermore, we encourage socialisation, as this can support an improvement in overall well-being; group outings and participation in activities are encouraged.

We encourage the use of public transport where possible; however, we understand that sometimes this is not a viable option for the people we support. Each of our supported living accommodations have access to a company car, which is used predominantly to attend appointments, but can also be used to access the community and activities.
