About Our Residential Services

We at M&D Care believe it is important for everyone to live in an environment that best suits their needs. Over the years, we have made many modifications to our homes for both existing and incoming residents, to ensure we provide a suitable and sustainable placement. We also believe that it is fundamentally important for an individual to feel safe and secure while also having everything they need to accommodate their personal needs. We continually develop our training systems, to ensure staff are well equipped to manage changes in the support we offer.

All of our residential facilities have the provisions available to manage complex care. We aim to train all of our staff in the practices of PBS and Active Support, which are utilised to minimise challenging behaviour and support people to live fulfilled lives. Our Positive Behavioural Support team work alongside our residential home support teams to provide an environment which maximises the therapeutic relationships between staff and people we support, making interactions more positive and meaningful to both parties.

We accommodate all different levels of support for individuals that can range from companionship and undertaking social activities, to meeting personal care needs and mobility. Additionally, our dedicated support staff are trained to work with the specific needs of an individual including learning disabilities and mental health diagnoses including schizophrenia, bipolar, depression and all forms of personality disorder.

Our residential homes help us to provide the people we support with the opportunity to live in a residential setting but to also have the set-up of a flat model to enable and enhance the skills of daily living within the community. Our placements provide dedicated and enriched 1-1 support with additional shared support to assist individuals to lead an independent lifestyle with access to 24-hour support if required.

What Are Our Strengths?

  • Flat model (provides the facilities to develop the skills of independent living in a residential setting).
  • Specialist Team (all of our staff teams have years of experience within mental health and learning disabilities).
  • DoLS & Guardianship (all of our teams are experienced in supporting individuals who require a DoLS authorisation and Guardianship’s).
  • PBS Input (The PBS department work peripatetically throughout our service and regularly visit all homes to provide targeted clinical support.
  • Focus on development (all of our teams are experienced in developing residents to gain the skills of daily living and reach goals with the goal of reaching a step down placement within our service).
  • Networking days (allows our staff teams to gain first-hand information on the people we support, before they transition).
  • Robust case formulations (provides staff teams with all of the relevant information to provide personalised support).
  • Active support (all staff teams are being trained in this area, to enable individuals with learning disabilities or mental health to engage more in their daily lives).
  • Personalised care planning (all of the people we support will be consulted during the process of their person-centred care plans being completed. We encourage all individuals to have input in all aspects of their care and what they want to achieve).
  • PBM (all staff are currently working towards being trained in PBM; we have an in-house team of ABMU PBM qualified trainers).
  • Reflective practice and support for our staff, which we provide through supervisions, appraisals and debriefs, which in turn improves the support our staff can provide to individuals in our care.
